Our school uniform gives us a sense of pride and belonging. Everyone is encouraged to look smart in school and the expectation is that all children will wear our agreed uniform. Please note that Pre-School children DO NOT require a PE kit and also receive a book bag free when they join so there is no need to buy these items.
The Governing Body recognises that there may be a diversity of cultures and religions represented amongst the children and will take a sensitive and respectful approach when this affects dress requirements. Priority will be given to health and safety.
The uniform consists of the following:
Black or grey skirt/shorts/pinafore/trousers
Green/white gingham dress
Bottle green sweatshirt/jumper/cardigan
White polo shirt
Black sensible shoes or black trainers
Our PE kit is:
Black shorts/tracksuit trousers/leggings
T-shirt (the colour of your team)
Hoodie
On PE days children come to school in their PE kit and stay in this all day.
Please note that our uniform does not need to be ordered from our school supplier. Plain polo shirts/sweatshirts/jumpers/cardigans/gigham dresses and PE kit without the school logo can be purchased from any major store or supermarket providing they match the school colour requirement.
The Friends of Tanfield Lea Primary School offer the sale of secondhand uniform. Secondhand uniform may also be purchased from PACT House, Stanley.

When ordering uniform, it is recommended that you use your child’s first initial and surname instead of just initials. This makes it much easier to return lost items. Thank you.
