Tanfield Lea Community Primary School offers Wrap Around Care for all it’s children from Pre-School to Year 6 from 7.50 am until 6.00 pm which we have listed below:
Breakfast Club (Pre-school to Year 6)
The school operates a Breakfast Club for all children from 7.50 am until 8.50 am. For the past 10 years we have been able to offer this provision at £2.00 a day a for a full hour and £8.00 if your child stays for the whole week, however, due to an increase to the cost of provisions and staffing, we have taken the decision to increase the daily price to £2.00 per day from September 2026 (half hour provision including food from 7.50 to 8.20 am).
The club takes place in the Upper School Hall and in the Early Years’ unit for our Pre-School children.
Children will be given a breakfast of cereal and either toast, crumpets, bagels, and other breakfast snacks, as well as a drink. Once they have had their breakfast they will have the opportunity to play games, colour in or go with the Sports Coach for other physical activities. Please contact the office for further details or drop in one morning.
Government Funded Free Breakfast Club (Reception to Year 6)
From September 2026, the Government are funding the school for a ‘free’ breakfast club for half an hour before the school day, ie from 8.20 am until 8.50 am for children in Reception to Year 6. Therefore, for any child who attends Breakfast Club, the first half hour is chargeable, as detailed above, and the second half hour is covered by Government funding. Please note if you only wish your child to attend the free breakfast club ie from 8.20 am, we are unable to provide food, as the food is served from 7.50 am. The gates are also locked from 8.20 am, so if you arrive after that time, you will need to enter via the school office.
After School Childcare (Pre-school to Year 6)
Starting in September 2025, the school will offer After School Childcare when the school day finishes to 6.00 pm for all children from Pre-School to Year 6.

or via phone: 07880 472222 (this phone operates from 3.00 pm – 6.00 pm Mondays to Fridays).
Bookings are via SchoolComms. Mrs Robertson is the contact for this.
The price structure is as follows:
- End of school – 4.15 pm £4.00
- End of school – 5.15 pm £7.00 (this includes a snack)
- End of school – 6.00 pm £10.00
Bookings will need to be made at the start of the week and can be made in advance until the end of the summer term 2026.
If your child is attending a school-led free club (eg School Council, Cookery Club, Art and Crafts, Football) and you want them to stay until 5.15 pm, you would pay £4.00 for 4.15 pm – 5.15 pm and £7.00 if until 6.00 pm.
Please note that your child should NOT bring a snack with them for After Care, this will be provided by the school from 4.15 pm onwards.
